Avenue Supermarts’ Consolidated Profit Climbs in Fiscal Q3; EPS and Revenue Miss Estimates

Avenue Supermarts (DMART, BOM:540376) said its consolidated profit attributable to the owners rose to 5.53 billion Indian rupees ($74.5 million) in the third quarter from 4.47 billion rupees a year ago.

Basic earnings per share for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2021, climbed to 8.53 rupees from 6.90 rupees a year earlier. The figure is lower than the Basic EPS estimate of 9.17 rupees based on a consensus of analysts compiled by Visible Alpha.

Diluted EPS came in at 8.46 rupees, higher than the 6.85 rupees of the corresponding period last year, according to a Saturday filing.

Meanwhile, total revenue of the grocery retailer jumped year on year to 92.18 billion rupees but missed the Visible Alpha revenue estimate of 98.24 billion rupees.
